The Island’s new resort-style pool is open
The Island Gold Coast has reopened its redesigned Pool Deck just in time for summer, with a new resort-style pool at its centre. At the Surfers Paradise boutique hotel, a quick dip has a way of turning into an afternoon on a sun lounger.
Vivid umbrellas stand out against the mature greenery, and a built-in seat runs the length of one side of the pool. The orb lights, fabrics and tiling give a quiet nod to the hotel’s mid-century origins. The covered deck opens straight onto the water, bringing The Island’s outside-in feel to the poolside.
With a full-service bar on the deck, you can settle in for a cocktail and a few bites by the water, meet friends for a drink before dinner or get everyone together for a birthday toast. The covered area can be set for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a milestone celebration, and the cabanas have lounge seating for intimate get-togethers.
Summer breakfast on the Pool Deck
The new summer breakfast menu is served alfresco seven days a week. Chilli scrambled eggs come on toasted focaccia with whipped feta and crispy chilli oil, while the pea and ricotta fritters are served with smoked salmon and dill labneh. Then there are the banoffee waffles, with caramelised bananas, salted caramel and vanilla bean ice cream. If there’s a place for ice cream at breakfast, it’s by the pool.
Each breakfast includes a barista-made coffee and a choice of juice. Hotel guests can head downstairs for breakfast, and locals are welcome to drop in, too. View the full breakfast menu.
If a few days in Surfers Paradise are on the cards, pack the swimmers and leave an afternoon free. Check availability for your stay.
